Is this any good? BH Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner Pen

I am a big believer in the fact that the search for the perfect liquid eyeliner is a long road filled with broken dreams. Well, not really. I've been wearing liquid eyeliner for quite a long time and still can't find the perfect one!

I recently picked up a Liquid Eyeliner Pen from BH Cosmetics (~$6) in my last Little Black Bag purchase (read my blog post about it here!) in hopes that something that is so low in cost would be my next favorite. However, I was a little disappointed with the results.

Picture-heavy, so read more below!

The eyeliner is packaged in smooth plastic with an easily removable cap that reveals a fine felt tip.

When swatching it, I was pleasantly surprised with the opacity of the product inside and how easily the eyeliner glided on the back of my hand!

However, when it came to actually applying the eyeliner on my eye, I was less than pleased with the turnout. I found the formula to lean toward the drier side of the liquid liner spectrum, finding it difficult to create a solid line in one sweep. Additionally, the thick base of the felt tip seemed to get in the way of creating a thin line on the lid in a very clumsy way.

The final gripe I have about this product is the opacity. It seemed fine when the eyeliner was swatched on the back of my hand, but creating a winged eyeliner look was quite difficult. Each sweep of the liner on the eyelid was notably different from the other, making the final look appear to be awkward.

Compare the line along the lash line to the start of the wing itself--the top is much lighter than that of the bottom.
Because this is not the most opaque formula, it removes without any extra effort. However, the eyeliner itself tends to smudge easily once it has been applied.

Do I recommend this product? No. There are other (even cheaper) alternatives to this product that perform much better. Even the $3 ELF Cream Eyeliner is more pigmented than this.
