Favorite Etsy Finds | Back to School Edition!

Hello, friends! I've been on a major Etsy kick recently. While it started off innocently enough with looking for a new, cute phone case, soon enough I found myself looking at wallets, bags, art prints, and beads. However, I found that most of what I had been admiring had a common theme... they were all things that I could use during the upcoming school year!

With my last year of undergrad quickly approaching, I thought it would be a lovely time to treat myself with a new book bag and some other essentials (and not-so-essentials). Before I placed the order that would surely make my wallet weep, I wanted to show you all what I'd been wanting to purchase!

Blue Waxed Canvas Tote - available for $79 USD from ottobags on Etsy.com
I've been interested in buying a new book bag for a year or so now, but I can never find something that I really like. I've been using the same black with neon splatter paint-patterned bag since my Freshman year of high school, and I think it's time to acknowledge the fact that I am simply a lot less edgier than I used to be. Maybe it's because I'm becoming a boring adult? (Hopefully not!)

This blue waxed canvas tote bag from ottobags on Etsy is perfect for fitting the essentials that I carry around: whatever novel we're currently reading for class, my sheet music, a notebook or two, and my planner. This is a little more than I want to spend right now, but this gorgeous bag is a very classic style that I can use for when I'm out of school and in the real world that won't make me look like a fourteen-year-old punk. (But hey, aren't we all a little embarrassed of who we were at that age? I know I certainly am.)

Handmade leaf cotton bag canvas bag - available for $28.50 USD from Ayufashion on Etsy.com
Though I might not be ready to spend about $80 on a book bag right now (let's face it: resident assistants aren't paid that much), I would definitely pay for this one! This handmade leaf cotton canvas bag from Ayufashion on Etsy is perfect for the late-summer and early autumn season with its light colors and cute leafy pattern! Again, it's a great size for throwing over my shoulder and sprinting to class or rehearsal. Plus, it has pockets on the inside for a phone, wallet or pencil case. The last thing anyone wants in a tote bag is a lack of pockets. Who would want everything floating around on the bottom, leaving you with ink stains, broken pencils, and grubby things? Not me, that's for sure.

Pencil Case Deers Print Zipper Pouch - available for $15 USD from Kuku Design on Etsy.com
Speaking of how undesirable it is to have pens and pencils floating around in a tote bag, I've been meaning to get a cute little zippered pencil case. My other book bag has a pocket on the front of the bag. While the design is pretty cute, it tends to make the bag top-heavy, so it always falls over, spilling out my large stash of pencils, pens, highlighters, and usually my phone. Life is especially tough for yours' truly.

To keep things a little more organized, I'm picking up this deer print zipper pouch from Kuku Design on Etsy. Not only will I be able to keep my pencils (a necessity for music class) and a stray pen for jotting down notes in my other classes, but I could probably throw a lip gloss (or, I don't know, a tampon?) or something in there and call it a day. This is actually sitting in my checkout cart waiting for me to bite the bullet and purchase it! (Does anyone else procrastinate on shopping? Because what if you change your mind, or what if you find something else you want to get?)

gold-dipped, hand-painted twig pencils - available for $13 USD from inkkit on Etsy.com
...Speaking of pencils, I just can't make this post without including these gorgeous gold-dipped, hand-painted twig pencils from inkkit on Etsy. They're rustic and cute, and would make a really great gift! My boyfriend, who's really interested in graphic design and aesthetics, would love these. These will look really nice in a pencil cup on a desk, though they probably wouldn't be very comfortable to write with for an extended period of time. (Also, I had a pencil like this, but it was a pain to sharpen.) But who cares, right? They're made from real twigs, which is pretty cool.

Paris Map abstract art print - available for $30 USD from JazzberryBlue on Etsy.com
I couldn't make a back-to-school post and not include some dorm room decor! As a resident assistant, I'll be living in a building filled with double rooms and sophomores instead of the suite I was in last year or the townhouses that many of my friends will be in this year. I'm mostly okay with it, save for the fact that I'm losing the private bathroom I had last year and will now be sharing a bathroom with ninety younger girls (who aren't always the cleanest).

To cheer myself up, I chose this lovely art print of a map of Paris by JazzberryBlue on Etsy. Not only is it really cool looking (and it goes with the theme that I've been planning for my hallway this year), but it's of a place filled with grace, poise, and places where the bathrooms aren't disgusting. (Hey, whatever gets you through, right?)

crochet cat coffee cozy - available for $13 USD from SugarJunkieShop on Etsy.com
I have a confession to make: I'm obsessed with everything cute, colorful, rainbow, and pastel. It's a secret side of me that I don't think I've admitted before now. I used to think that these kinds of things were a little annoying and immature, but I can't resist them any longer. I'm addicted. I CAN'T HANDLE THE CUTE.

This crochet cat coffee cozy by SugarJunkieShop on Etsy definitely pushed me over the edge. I have a couple of cup cozies that my mom knitted for me (I know you're reading this, so hi!), but with the number of cups of tea I drink a week from to-go cups in the dining hall, I figured I could be a little more eco-friendly by skipping the cardboard sleeves and using a greener option. I would love to buy this, but it looks like something I can easily duplicate with crochet, so I'm going to try that first! The rest of her shop is super cute, too. So, if you like pastel, rainbow, sugary-sweet looking things, I would definitely recommend checking out her store!
